https://www.coderabbit.ai/CodeRabbit reviews pull requests automatically. It reads the change, writes a summary and walkthrough, and leaves line-level comments with suggestions you can commit in one click. It earns its price for teams whose code now arrives faster than people can review it, which, with coding assistants writing a growing share, is most teams. A solo developer opening a PR or two a week on a private repo will struggle to justify a per-seat fee, unless the project is open source, in which case reviews are free.
We checked the details below against CodeRabbit’s pricing page and documentation in October 2026. We did not run it on a repository of our own.
Tired of juggling ten tabs? ToolSuite bundles the AI workflow tools power users rely on — in one place.
Try ToolSuite NowReview no longer waits for the pull request
CodeRabbit works on GitHub, GitLab, Azure DevOps and Bitbucket, and connects to Jira and Linear so it knows what a change is meant to solve. The newer part is that review now happens before the PR exists. There are extensions for VS Code, Cursor and Windsurf, and a CLI that reviews changes before you commit and, according to the docs, works alongside Claude Code, Cursor, Codex and Gemini. In practice you can let a coding agent write, run its output past CodeRabbit, and fix what it finds before a colleague ever sees it.
Two features stand out: Slop Detection, which flags low-quality AI-generated pull requests, and pre-merge checks, which enforce your team’s own rules before a change can land.
Pricing is per developer, with an hourly review allowance
Prices per developer per month, as shown on the pricing page in October 2026:
| Plan | Monthly | Billed yearly | What it adds |
|---|---|---|---|
| Essentials | $30 | $24 | Reviews in PRs, IDE and CLI; chat; one-click fixes; pre-merge checks |
| Team | $60 | $48 | Unit test generation, prioritised PR queue, post-merge actions |
| Advanced | Not shown | $72 | Continuous security monitoring, architecture impact review |
| Enterprise | Custom | SSO, custom roles, audit logs, custom deployment | |
Paid plans start with a 14-day trial. Essentials includes 5 PR reviews per developer per hour; reviews beyond the allowance cost $0.25 per reviewed file, under a monthly spending cap the admin sets. Public repositories are reviewed free, permanently: sign up with GitHub or GitLab and install it on the repo.
It can review in languages other than English
A setting many teams miss: the “language” key in .coderabbit.yaml sets the language of reviews, and the documented list of allowed values runs to around a hundred locale codes. For a team that discusses code in Spanish, Japanese, German or Arabic, summaries and comments can arrive in that language, while code identifiers and most technical terms will naturally stay in English. We have not judged the quality of non-English reviews; try it on one public-repo PR and see whether your team finds it clearer than English.
Who it suits, and when to pick something else
CodeRabbit suits teams with a growing PR backlog, open-source maintainers, and companies leaning on coding assistants that need a second reviewer who never tires. It does not replace a human reviewer on security-critical changes, and per-seat pricing adds up quickly in large teams.
Alternatives: Greptile, which focuses on whole-codebase context; CodiumAI for test generation and review; and GitHub Copilot if your team already pays for it and its built-in review is enough.
