https://www.meshy.ai/Meshy turns a text description or a photo into a textured 3D model you can download and drop into a game engine, a 3D printer slicer or a product viewer. It runs in the browser, so there is nothing to install, and its job is the slow first stage of 3D work: getting from “I need a wooden chest” to a usable mesh in minutes instead of an evening in Blender.
What you can make with it
The core is generation from two kinds of input. Text to 3D builds a model from a written description, and Image to 3D builds one from a picture; a multi-view option takes several pictures of the same object for a more faithful shape. Around that, Meshy adds tools that matter once you have a model:
Tired of juggling ten tabs? ToolSuite bundles the AI workflow tools power users rely on — in one place.
Try ToolSuite Now- AI texturing and texture editing, to repaint a model that has the right shape but the wrong look.
- Remesh, to change the mesh, useful when a game needs a lighter model.
- Rigging and animation, with an animation library for characters.
- Text to image, handy for producing a reference picture before you convert it.
Models download as FBX, OBJ, STL, glTF, GLB, USDZ or BLEND. That covers Unity and Unreal (FBX), the web and AR viewers (GLB and USDZ), Blender, and 3D printing (STL).
A sensible way to work
- Start with a clear description: the object, its material and the style you want, such as “low-poly stylised wooden treasure chest with iron bands”.
- For photos, use an evenly lit picture of a single object on a plain background. Harsh shadows and busy scenes confuse the shape.
- Check the result from every angle before you spend more credits on it. The back and underside of a model are where AI generation most often goes wrong.
- Fix the surface with texture editing rather than regenerating the whole model.
- Export in the format your next tool expects, and plan a clean-up pass in Blender if the model is going into a professional project.
Plans and prices
| Plan | Price (billed monthly) | Credits a month | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Free | $0 | 100 | No card needed; models are licensed CC BY 4.0, so commercial use requires crediting Meshy |
| Pro | $20 | 1,000 | Private licence (the models are yours), API access and plugins for 3D apps |
| Premium | $40 | 3,000 | Everything in Pro with more volume and early access to new features |
| Ultra | $100 | 8,000 | The largest individual plan |
| Studio | From $70 | Shared team pool | Team workspaces, shared credits and central billing |
| Enterprise | Custom | Custom | Volume pricing, SAML single sign-on and dedicated support |
Prices and allowances were taken from meshy.ai/pricing on 18 October 2026. Yearly billing is cheaper, and new users are sometimes offered a discount on the first month. Monthly credits reset each month, while credits you buy separately do not expire. Meshy says it generally does not refund subscriptions, so it is worth using the free plan before you pay.
The licence is the detail that decides many purchases. Free users may sell what they make, but they must credit Meshy. Paid plans make the models exclusively yours, which is what most client and commercial work needs.
Where Meshy fits among similar tools
Text- and image-to-3D has become a crowded field. Tripo AI, Hyper3D Rodin and Next3D cover the same ground, while Kaedim aims at production-ready game assets. Meshy’s case rests on breadth: generation, texturing, remeshing, rigging and a wide spread of export formats in one place, plus an API for developers who want to build it into their own product. If you want whole playable games rather than assets, Rosebud AI is the closer fit.
We have not benchmarked these tools against each other, and quality varies a lot by subject: one tool can win on characters and lose on furniture. The fair test is your own. Take one object you actually need, run the same photo or prompt through Meshy’s free plan and through one competitor’s free tier, then open both files in Blender and compare the topology, the back of the model and the texture seams.
Limits to expect
AI-generated meshes are rarely ready for a professional pipeline as they come. Fine details such as fingers, thin edges and text tend to be soft or distorted, and the mesh layout usually needs retopology before serious animation. Image-to-3D can only guess the parts the photo does not show. The free plan’s 100 credits are a trial rather than a working allowance, and anything you make on it carries the attribution requirement.
Who it suits
Meshy is a strong fit for indie game developers filling a scene with props, designers who need quick product or furniture models for a mock-up, and teams building 3D previews for online shops through the API. It suits big-budget film or game production less well, where every asset is going to be rebuilt by an artist anyway. For those users it can still serve as a fast way to sketch ideas in 3D before the real modelling starts.
