https://www.photoroom.com/Photoroom is an AI photo editor built for people who sell products online. It removes backgrounds, stages products in generated scenes, puts garments on virtual models, and does all of it across hundreds of images at once. If you run a Shopify store, an Instagram shop or a marketplace listing and shoot your products on a phone, it is one of the cheapest routes to clean, consistent catalogue images. If you are a designer who wants layer-by-layer control, it is not your editor.
We checked the details below on the app and API pricing pages and the App Store listing in October 2026, without a paid subscription.
Tired of juggling ten tabs? ToolSuite bundles the AI workflow tools power users rely on — in one place.
Try ToolSuite NowBackground removal is now the least of it
Photoroom made its name cutting products out of photos, and that tool now sits among the “unlimited core tools” on every paid plan. What you really pay for is the generative layer: AI backgrounds that put a perfume bottle on marble or sand, AI fashion models wearing a piece you shot on a mannequin, virtual try-on, and, on higher plans, a video ad generator. Because those tools draw on credits, the right question when choosing a plan is how many generated images you need each month, not which feature you want.
Pricing: three credit plans and a trial, no free plan listed
In October 2026 the pricing page listed these plans, shown as the monthly price when billed yearly:
| Plan | Price | Monthly allowance | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Pro | $7.50 | 8,000 AI credits, 1,000 exports | No video generator, no 4K |
| Max | $20.99 | 25,000 AI credits, 3,000 exports | Adds video generator and Shopify integration |
| Ultra | $82.50 | 75,000 AI credits, 10,000 exports | 4K images and HD video |
| Enterprise | Custom | Shared annual balance across apps and API | Outcome-based option for food and fashion brands |
The page offered free trials on Pro and Max without stating their length, and we could not read the undiscounted monthly prices. Prices can differ by country and app store, so confirm in the app before paying. One useful detail: every paid plan includes an API credit wallet worth the subscription price.
The API on its own is priced per image: $0.02 for background removal and $0.10 for full image editing, with 10 free production calls and 1,000 watermarked sandbox calls a month.
Arabic: the app speaks it, generated text may not
The App Store listing includes Arabic among the app’s languages, so the phone interface works in Arabic. The website has no Arabic version among the twenty or so it offers. The bigger issue for Arabic-speaking sellers is that generated scenes can contain signs or lettering, and image models routinely garble Arabic script; we found nothing showing Photoroom is an exception.
A quick test before subscribing: photograph a product with an Arabic label, remove the background and generate a scene. Check that the label survives undistorted, and add any Arabic text yourself with the text tool instead of asking the generator for it.
Who it suits, and when to pick something else
Photoroom suits sellers who list new products every week and want uniform images without a photographer, fashion shops that need models without a shoot, and developers who need bulk background removal at a clear per-image price. If you only edit the odd photo now and then, you do not need it.
Alternatives we have reviewed: Pixelcut for a similar phone app, Claid.ai for API-driven product photo enhancement, and Clipdrop for standalone editing tools.
