https://xmind.com/Xmind is one of the most mature mind-mapping apps around, and its new conversational Xmind Agent makes it more than a drawing tool: you talk, and the map builds itself. It is a strong pick for students, researchers and project leads who think visually. The catch is that serious AI use effectively requires the Premium plan, and Arabic support is undocumented, so start on the free tier.
What Xmind Agent actually does
You start from a sentence, a file, a link or a conversation, and the Agent drafts a structured map. It then keeps working with you: it reads what is already on the map, points out missing branches, suggests new angles and can reorganise the whole structure on request. According to the June 2026 release notes, the AI now sits in a panel inside the map on Xmind Web, where it can search the web, pull in your own files, grow a single branch or reshape everything at once.
Tired of juggling ten tabs? ToolSuite bundles the AI workflow tools power users rely on — in one place.
Try ToolSuite NowWhat sets Xmind apart from quick map generators is what happens next. You can break a project into tasks scheduled on real working days, edit a Gantt chart, and turn the map into a presentation or short video with Pitch. The April 2026 update added Image to Mind Map, which builds a map from a photo, and an Outliner for real-time co-editing. Xmind runs on Windows, macOS, Linux, iOS/iPadOS, Android and the web, and one subscription covers five computers and five mobile devices. The homepage also lists Claude, Claude Code, ChatGPT/Codex, Cursor and Notion under “Bring Xmind into your AI workflow”, but gives no detail on how those connections work.
What it costs in practice
The pricing page showed us Pro at US$4.92 a month and Premium at US$8.25 a month. The page has a monthly/yearly switch advertising up to 50% off yearly, but the monthly-billing prices were not visible to us, so we cannot say which billing those figures belong to. The 7-day free trial and the 7-day money-back guarantee apply only to yearly plans bought on the website; monthly plans and AI credit add-ons are not refundable.
| Plan | Price shown | What you get |
|---|---|---|
| Free | US$0 | 10 cloud maps, 3-day version history, 5 Pitch slides, 50 AI credits at sign-up only, watermarked PNG export |
| Pro | US$4.92 / month | 50 maps with basic collaboration, PDF/SVG/Markdown/Office export without watermark, unlimited Pitch slides, 50 sign-up credits with no monthly refill |
| Premium | US$8.25 / month | Unlimited maps and real-time collaboration, 30-day history, editable Gantt charts, tasks with assignees, 500 AI credits a month and every AI feature |
In short, Pro suits people who build maps by hand and want clean exports; anyone who wants the Agent as a daily companion should budget for Premium. Team, Enterprise and Education plans exist, along with discounts for non-profits and government bodies, but we did not check their prices.
Arabic and right-to-left: unconfirmed
The Xmind website is available in eleven languages, and Arabic is not among them. Nothing we read documents Arabic text in maps, right-to-left branch layout or Arabic answers from the AI. That does not mean they fail, only that the vendor does not say. Mind maps are a staple revision method for Arab school and university students, so a ten-minute test on the free plan is worth it: mix Arabic and English words in a few branches and check that letters join and punctuation lands correctly, ask the Agent to map an Arabic paragraph and see which language it replies in, then export to PDF and PNG and confirm the shaping survives.
Who should look elsewhere
If you only want a quick map of a video or article, Mapify may be enough, and for a long-running research knowledge base Heptabase is the closer fit. Teams that need confirmed Arabic or right-to-left support should wait until Xmind documents it. For everyone else who wants one app that carries an idea from brainstorm to schedule to slides, Xmind is easy to recommend.
